Middle of nowhere (2024)

I was on a train, sitting still, crossing Europe while the world moved around me. At one moment, I felt: I’m in the middle of nowhere. Even when I felt lost, the GPS told me where I was. I no longer felt lost, even though I didn’t recognize the landscape or the architecture.
I started taking screenshots of my position on my phone’s GPS.

From that, I created a map that also uses movement and time as dimensions. It blurs the surroundings and makes the blue dot—our representation—stronger. So where am I? I’m here, in the middle of nowhere.

My work explores the fragile boundary between structure and chance, between the visible trace and the invisible movement of time. Through materials gathered from daily life—sand, bread, tools, found fragments—I investigate how meaning is constructed, eroded, and reassembled.
